Who We Are
The Manitoba Foster Family Network is a non-profit, charitable organization focused on grassroots community development opportunities to enhance the lives of foster families. Through a province-wide network, foster parents receive training, guidance and assistance, often provided by other foster parents within the community.
What We Do
The Foster Family Network maintains a toolkit for foster parents. Some of these tools are in the form of programs that run through the Foster Family Network. Our programs are designed to be specific to the diverse needs of all foster parents in Manitoba because they are run by foster parents, for foster parents.
Other tools are types of resource support that provide information to the individual foster parent. Some of this information is created and made available by the Foster Family Network and some of it provides access to various supports provided through other organizations.
To encourage, promote, assist, and educate foster and kinship homes to enhance the quality of life for children in care.
How the Foster Family Network Began
After a loss of funding for The Foster Family Association in 1993, a group of hard-working and committed foster parents came together and created a funding proposal to establish a province-wide foster family network in Manitoba.
In 2000, the first office of the Manitoba Foster Family Network was opened on Provencher Boulevard in Winnipeg. Today, we are located at 90 Terracon Place in Winnipeg and as foster parent volunteer involvement in the network grows, so do the services we provide. We are proud of the assistance we have been able to provide to the foster family community.
