Who We Are
The Manitoba Foster Family Network is a non-profit, charitable organization focused on grassroots community development opportunities to enhance the lives of foster families. Through a province-wide network, foster parents receive training, guidance and assistance, often provided by other foster parents within the community.
The Peer Support Program is an initiative designed to provide support to foster parents by foster parents. These network-trained foster parents are referred to as Peer Support Providers. Peer Support Providers have first-hand knowledge of the increasingly complex challenges to providing care to children and they have been trained in ways to provide assistance in a knowledgeable and healthy manner. Notice of Annual General Meeting:
As we have travelled throughout Manitoba delivering training and hosting forums, as well as through our Peer Support Program, we have become increasingly aware that our name should more accurately represent the people we serve. For this reason we are working to change our name to The Kinship and Foster Family Network of Manitoba. This will require a change to our by-laws. During our Annual General Meeting we will be putting forth a special resolution to change our official name, and make changes throughout our by-laws to reflect that change. There are a few other minor by-law changes that will be proposed as well. The AGM will take place on Thursday, May 31st, 2018 from 12:30 pm until 1:30 pm. And will be held at Portage La Prairie Library, 40-B Royal Road North, Portage La Prairie, Manitoba, R1N 1V1. We invite you to visit read through the proposed changes in the link below, and we hope to see you at the AGM.
